Known Trivia

  • In the song “Pappu Can’t Dance Saala” a line says “Papa kehte hai bada naam karega”. “‘Papa Kehte Hai” was a song in ‘Imran Khan”s uncle Aamir Khan’s debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Also, just as Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was produced by Aamir Khan’s uncle Nasir Hussain, this film, which is Imran Khan’s debut film, is produced by his uncles Mansoor Khan and Aamir Khan.
  • The last shot of the film is on the airport of the arriving crowd. In the shot a man with a big beard is seen sleeping, holding a board in his hand saying “Mr. Godot”. This is a reference to Samuel Beckett’s famous play “Waiting For Godot” in which “Godot” never arrives.
  • When the group reaches the Airport, Shaleen asks Jiggy if he has confessed his love to Mala. He replies that if he would do that, Mala would give him a ‘GPL’, which is an abbreviation of a Hindi slang ‘Gaand pe laat’, which means ‘to get ones’ a*s kicked’.
  • Jai’s parents, played by Ratna Pathak and Naseeruddin Shah are a real life couple. Their real life knick-knacks are shown in the movie too.
  • Jai tells Meghna that his grandfather wished to name him Zoravar, which is actually the name of third son of Guru Govind Singh Ji.
  • When Aditi drops Jai at his home in her Cherevolet Spark, the place where she stops and the way she drives in, is exactly the same as the car arrives in the commercial for Cherevolet Spark, at the end.
  • Apart from the two versions of the title song, the line “Jaane tu ya jaane na’ (which means: do you know or do you not) was also used several times in the song “Tu Bole Main Boloon” and once in the song “Kabhi Kabhi Aditi”.
  • The female version of song ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, sung by ‘Runa Rizvi’, is not in the original version of the film. But following the success of the film during its first weeks in theaters, the song was temporarily added with Aditi singing the song. The song can be seen in the deleted scenes feature on the DVD.

Goofs: Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the second chorus of "Pappu Can't Dance," Imran Khan is supposed to appear to be lip syncing the chorus, but he starts lip syncing too late and only "sings" the second half of the the line.

Plot: Two best friends being convinced that they are not in love search for each other's love. Full summary »  »

{tab=Synopsis}

Synopsis: Meet Jai Singh Rathore – ‘Rats’ (Imran Khan), the most non-violent Rajput either side of the Aravallis. And meet, if you dare, the violent and passionate Aditi Mahant – ‘Meow’ (Genelia D’Souza). Whatever you do, do not pick a fight with her. She scratches. And abuses. If you do get into a scrap, take cover till Jai arrives, as he alone can calm our snarling wildcat.

Jai thinks Aditi’s parents should have rinsed her mouth with soap when she was a child. Aditi thinks that Jai is the biggest coward she has ever encountered. Heaven has mixed up its apples and oranges.

Rotlu weeps secretly for Aditi. Bombs’ heart explodes for Jai. Jiggy applies golden mascara to his hair. Shaleen well, she’s probably the only one who doesn’t seem a few notes short of a concerto.

Jai and Aditi are perfect for each other (in some odd, distorted way, impossible to understand). Friends know this. Parents know this. Everybody knows this. But do Rats and Meow know?

Can two people ever, truly, know the secrets of their hearts? And how do you know it’s the real thing?

When do you know it’s love?

Adding to this, a quarrelling portrait and many problems ahead…
